Welcome from the Executive Head Teacher

Welcome to All Saints’ Thurlestone Church of England Academy

We are proud to be part of the Learning Academy Partnership, which is a family of schools, working together within a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) with a Church of England Foundation, where we are committed to putting children first in all we do, think and say. We are passionate about ensuring that your child will achieve their very best in a nurturing environment.  At All Saints’ Thurlestone we want every child to ‘learn to soar’ - we believe that there is no ceiling to what our children can achieve and we know that by working in partnership with parents and by modelling a real love of learning we are providing the best possible conditions for each and every one of our children to flourish and ‘soar’ - creatively, spiritually and academically.

All Saints’ Thurlestone Church of England Academy is a thriving village school set in a breathtaking position overlooking fields and the sea.  All Saints’ Thurlestone is part of a group of local schools (Charleton C of E and West Alvington C of E Academies) who form the South Hams Hub of the Learning Academy Partnership.  We are very proud of the close relationship that we have with our local parish church, All Saints, close by in the village centre.  Whilst we are a Church of England Academy, we actively welcome families from other faiths and no faith.

Our Christian Values are threaded through all aspects of life at All Saints’ C of E Academy Thurlestone - Friendship, Respect, Koinonia  (community & fellowship), Endurance, Honesty and Fairness.  We want our pupils to uphold British values such as respect for the law, understand the role of democracy and to respect those who are both different and similar to ourselves.  Whilst our academy is small, with around 122 pupils, we aim to provide a world class education in all respects, by working together with our partner schools across the trust, whilst keeping the special and distinctive nature of our own academy.

Our academy is often described by parents and staff as being like a caring, close family.  Parents and visitors to our academy praise our warm and friendly atmosphere.  Working together is key to the success of your child.  This of course includes our crucial partnership with you as parents.  We recognise that education is a joint effort between home and academy, and communication between the two is a key strength, resulting in the strong, caring relationships we enjoy across both the academy family and the trust family.

All Saints’ is a Church of England Academy in the Diocese of Exeter.  Recognising its historic foundation the Academy strives to preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles and practice of the Church of England and in partnership with the church in the parish and the diocese.

Being mindful of its Christian Foundation, The Trust Board aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  This will be explicit in Church Academies.  It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experiences it offers to all its pupils.

We are really looking forward to welcoming you to our academy family - there are amazing times ahead for us to share together and we can’t wait to make a start!
